Dr. Filth (USA)
Whitney Shroyer opened Whizz Records in 1993 in Columbia, MO - home town of Deke Dickerson and Untamed Youth - and began channeling his life long rock and roll obsession. The store quickly became a gathering point for like minded vinyl fanatics, and was the birthplace for the Revelators (Mark worked the store on Sundays, Jeremiah and Schooley spent their student loans there). The band’s first practice space was the store’s basement. Shroyer moved the store to Asheville NC and started DJing there in the mid 2000s, when he (as Dr. Filth) and Greg Cartwright (who’d just moved to Asheville) started DJing every Saturday Night at a restaurant called the Admiral. The gig became a weekly fixture on the Asheville and rock and roll music scene for nine years, broadcasting on WFMU’s Rock and Soul Ichiban. He currently produces a weekly show about 45 rpm records on WSFM, AshevilleFM.org, every Friday from 11 am - 1 pm.
