1-800-Mikey is the bedroom power pop project of Western Sydney artist Michael Barker, launched in 2019. With a lo-fi charm and hook-laden songwriting, the project has grown from local cult favourite to an emerging international act. Two EPs laid the foundation for 1-800-Mikey’s distinctive sound, followed by two full-length albums released via Erste Theke Tontraeger (Europe) and Under the Gun (USA).
The debut LP earned Album of the Week on FBi Radio in April 2022 and paved the way for a standout performance at Gonerfest 2023, which sparked an 11-date North American tour. In 2024, 1-800-Mikey completed their first Australian tour, with shows across the east and west coasts. October 2024 saw the release of the sophomore record Digital Pet, which quickly gained momentum—selling out its first U.S. vinyl pressing in just six weeks.
With international acclaim growing, 1-800-Mikey continues to represent the creative energy of Western Sydney’s DIY scene on a global stage.
