Leonor Carrionette

My name is Leonor and I’m extremely pleased to have been invited to play records at such a special event!
Regarding my musical taste I can say that my passion for 60s music started at a very early age in Spain, listening to my elder brother’s garage records and being flashed by all these sounds that made me immensely happy. So I started collecting records and at a certain point I also began spinning them for dance floors. Since 2010 I’ve been djing with my beloved twin sister as part of the DJ Team The Carrionettes. Furthermore, I had the enjoyment of playing my records in different cities in Spain, Belgium and of course Germany. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy my set of garage and psychedelic music, among other musical gems.

Fred Bodysway

Crossing the deepest seas, all the way from the exotic kingdom of Belgium, here comes Fred Bodysway.

While his mind is floating in psychedelia,he keeps his feet in the punk magma, so expect FRED to serve you an unhealthy dose of primitive garage and more shenanigans straight outta the wildest side of the 60s!

Anna Goldthorp

I’ve been DJing and running monthly club nights in Glasgow, Scotland since 2011, playing R&B, rock n roll, 60s garage and punk records, nowadays I throw in a bit of popcorn too. Collecting music has given me amazing opportunities to DJ at killer clubs, gigs and weekenders across the UK, Europe and USA with a few recent highlights being Hipsville, Weirdsville, Jester Wild Weekender, Fun House and Destination 2165.
Last year I had the privilege of DJing for Nick Waterhouse on his most recent tour of Spain, alongside Holly Calder, taking our Glasgow based club night, Anna & Holly’s Dance Party on the road. I’m so excited to be back in Spain playing records for the wildest crowd!

Tony the Tiger

Hi, I’m Tony Sanchez aka “Tony the Tyger” from Oceanside, California. I’m super excited to come back to Spain and Funtastic; it’s been five years! Vamos!

Penelope Disco: the venue

  • conciertos

  • piscina

  • jardin

When Penelope opened its doors in 1968 in what was then a small fishing town, no one knew what the future was going to be, both for the club and for the, now, city. It can be said that Benidorm and Penelope grew hand in hand and you cannot imagine one without the other.

Located in the leisure area of Benidorm (Avenida Comunidad Valenciana, 120), Penelope is characterized by the Mediterranean style of its structure with several distinct areas: the MAIN ROOM, an INDOORS one where the CONCERTS and after parties take place, with 25,000 W of sound, projections and funtastic decoration, a SECOND ROOM, also INDOORS, which will be open during the concerts in case you want to DANCE with this year’s guest club: the Brits from HIPSVILLE A GO GO!, and finally, the PATIO that has been completely remodeled and improved, preserving its magical nooks and crannies and a SECOND STAGE has been added for concerts and DJs. We can’t forget the fabulous POOL with glass walls in which the bravest can take a dip. On the patio, in addition to DANCING with the DJ or SWIMMING in the pool, you can EAT something or buy clothing, records and other wonders as the DRACULA MARKET is back, or simply RELAX on its comfortable SOFAS. ALL THREE AREAS, with their corresponding BARS, will be OPEN AT THE SAME TIME, so you have no chance of getting bored.

We cannot mention this club without talking about its logo: the enigmatic silhouette of a bohemian-looking young woman, with long flowing hair that covers her face and her Panama hat coquettishly tilted, has become an icon in Spain. (The national newspaper “El País” published a report on its back cover showing a list of the best-selling stickers in Spain, where Penelope’s was second only behind Osborne’s famous Toro-Bull).

Its creation goes back to 1968 when a French woman artist, Paule Rosset, noticed a girl called Mao, beautiful and attractive, modern and ahead of her time, whom she carefully portrayed, destining her to become a symbol.
